Willow Park History

In March 1996, the Town of Halton Hills' Environmental Advisory Committee (TEAC) hosted a workshop with respect to "Green Communities". Inspired by the efforts presented by the City of Peterborough at a Round Table Discussion, the Committee considered the potential for a similar effort in Halton Hills. The old Willow RV Park in Norval was deemed to provide a suitable site to develop the proposed facility. Town staff and Council, as well as CVC staff, were approached with the idea and the project's planning was initiated. TEAC proceeded with an effort to plan and create an Ecology Centre, together with the Town's Park and Recreation Department and with the Credit Valley Conservation (CVC).

Since the start of the park many features have been added so the public can better enjoy the area. Such as:

Gardens
Wetland with viewing platform
Bridge over Silver Creek
Interpretive Pavillion
Kiosk
Weather Station
Tree Trail
Benches
Wildlife homes and houses
